1: The fruitful meeting between craftsmanship and creativity still forms Georg Jensen Damask’s basis. The Georg Jensen Damask collection represents a large number of designers signalising their individual style and inspiration. The brand only works with creative professional freelance designers and textile artists, who are inspired by the limitless possibilities offered by damask weaving. From design icons and recognized designers of the past – to the best of today’s Danish textile design and upcoming designers.
2: Each Georg Jensen Damask piece is woven according to the traditional damask technique that has been used for generations.
3: Georg Jensen Damask presents an exquisite collection of damask tablecloths in romantic, classic or historic designs. The weight of Georg Jensen Damask tablecloths are 270 – 280 gram per mē. Most competitors produce tablecloths with a weight of only 200 gram per square metre.
4: Raw materials are selected with care – only the best qualities find their way to the Georg Jensen Damask collection.
Georg Jensen Damask tablecloths, runners, and napkins are woven with two-thread (2-ply), super-combed, long fibered American cotton. The cotton is dyed before weaving to ensure a long lasting, consistent colour. After weaving, the tablecloths are mercerised to provide the Georg Jensen Damask ‘hallmark’ surface sheen.
Mercerise: Treat to strengthen and improve the lustre; "mercerise cotton"
Mercerised: Cotton thread that has been treated with sodium hydroxide to shrink it and increase its lustre and affinity for dye; "mercerised cotton"
Georg Jensen Damask use 100% cotton for our table collection. All Georg Jensen Damask raw materials are selected with care ensuring that only the best quality yarn is used in the Georg Jensen Damask Collection.
Georg Jensen Damask use 2-ply for all products in the collection.
Georg Jensen Damask cotton is vat dyed. The yarns are individually spun and then vat dyed in big pressure cookers prior to the twisting. This results in a more uniform yarn. Vat dying also ensures that colours are clear and remain colourfast

Thread count is simply the number of threads per square cm of fabric. These consist of vertical threads (warp) and horizontal threads (weft) woven together.
Thread count is measured in 10 square centimetres.
Tablecloths:
Thread count per 10 square centimetre:
(((20 (weft) x 2 (2-ply)) + (27 (warp) x 2 (2-ply))) = 94 threads per cm2 x 10) = 940 thread count.
The Australian Consumer Association identifies that apart from good finishing, the thread count of linen is a good indicator of quality – the higher the thread count, the softer the fabric. However, a high thread count does not mean a thicker sheet. A high thread count means that finer yarns are woven tightly to give a soft, fine material that retains its stability and strength.
Scandinavian designers have combined equisite quality textiles with the very best in Danish design to create in our view an exciting collection of luxury fabrics in Georg Jensen Damask.
