Brand History

In 1810, the PEUGEOT brothers converted the mill inherited from their miller ancestors into a steel mill. Since then, rolled steel has been at the heart of PEUGEOT’s activities. Saw blades and tools led to a wide and various range of manufactured products: from crinolines, to sewing machines, sheep-shearer to penny-farthing bicycles and finally, to cars. In 1840, the PEUGEOT coffee mill entered the kitchen and opened the way for the pepper mill in 1874. Since then, many spices have felt the Lion’s claws.

Design and Innovation

PEUGEOT has developed grinding mechanisms with specific characteristics and designs, each adapted to a particular spice. Utilising the highest quality materials, the manufacturing process blends both modern and traditional techniques to ensure a lifetime of trouble free use. As such, the durability of the mechanism is reflected proudly by the lifetime warranty offered on all PEUGEOT grinding mechanisms.

Building on it’s tradition for innovation and the use of new 1997 materials, PEUGEOT now offers a very large range of mills. With it’s range of traditional, electric and mills equipped with the patented adjustable grinding system , the PEUGEOT mill became the “Reference”.

The Grinding Mechanism

1. Pepper

The pepper mechanism is equipped with a helix shaped double row of teeth that guide and hold the peppercorns for the perfect grind. It is treated with a patented process which maintains the sharpness of the teeth while protecting the steel from corrosion and wear.

2. Salt

For many years, offering a salt mill that will last has been a challenge. Due to its corrosive nature, sea salt quickly renders conventional grinding mechanisms useless. Overcoming this, Peugeot’s specifically designed salt grinding mechanism uses 18/10 stainless steel and is applied with an anti-corrosion treatment which guarantees uncompromised usage for a lifetime.

Peugeot’s patented grind adjustment system found on selected salt and pepper mills, allows for quick access to 6 pre-set grind settings. By using the adjustment ring at the bottom of the mill, the coarseness of the grind can quickly be set to the desired degree.

The mill is guaranteed for two years from date of purchase.

The Peugeot mechanism has a lifetime guarantee. These guarantees do not cover normal wear and tear, misuse or accidental damage.
